Poll #3

Hello everyone (or onlyone!) :D

We’ve got a Bloody poll today. I feel you’ll have a hard time on this one. Tune your critical sense before reading any further. You’ll need to examine details carefully (shouldn’t be too hard if you’re… hmm… a molecular biologist or something like that, for example). Ready? Shoot!

As you will see, it’s not a poll about the final result of a pic. Noup. I finally tried to produce my own fake blood. I made it in two different ways – didn’t use any of the recipes I found on the web, they sucked – and I’ll tell you what: Fake blood is yummy!

I have ideas for a further bloody session, but first I want to know what looks more realistic in your eyes. My choice of blood’s been made, though. I’m not going to vote now not to influence anyone. But hey, I obviously have more conditions of making my mind about it, even because it’s not only about what it looks, it’s about what it feels too, and unfortunately I can’t make you feel the consistency of those babes.

So the poll is multiple today. First you’ll pick the Best Blood Splatter, then Best Blood On Skin, and finally Best Blood Dripping.

Pay close attention to details, for example: in the Splatter pics, observe that the right side of the pic shows the blood mixing in water. Also attention to how it seems to have fallen down: shape, color, concentration, etc.

On the Dripping pictures, the camera has a hard time focusing but I hope you can get the idea anyway.

Now, time to vote! And remember you can always vote on behalf of your mom. What would she get more shocked with? Actually, I suggest that you invite her to have a look at the screen. Hohoho.

Ok, so first, i like your fake blood, it looks quite good. :)

Yeah, molecular biologists know a thing or two about blood... like, what a big mess it makes when you cut a rat's artery!! :D

For the best blood spatter, i picked the first one cause:

- I liked the red and deep red blood mix. The darker red blood looks like coagulated blood.

- There were more little round blood drops. I think it looks more realistic than big drops.

I didn't like much the blood mixed with water, i thought the color was too pale.

What did you use to make the spatter? One thing you could try is to dip 1 finger in your fake blood so it'd mimic a "real" bleeding. Dont put too much blood on your finger, let it drip over a piece of paper or whatever (you can try dripping blood over different things, it will give you different results) and observe the different shapes. Then, try to slowly or quickly move your finger, etc... You'll get different patterns. Also, you can vary the height of your finger and see if the shapes changes...

Me again!! :D

For the Best blood on skin, i picked the 2nd one...

It looks more like one big palm injury and some bloody fingers (probably cause they touched the wound). I like how the blood is running on your palm, it looks quite real.

On the other pic, the big and small splashes of blood didnt look so real. Especially the ones between the fingers... Was i supposed to believe there were some injuries over there? If yes, then.. oops! :P

For the Best blood dripping, i picked the first one. It wasn't easy to pick one, but i liked the first one better... The blood didnt look as dark as the one on the 2nd pic. The dripping was... ah, how to describe it?!... it was more even or something! Does that make sense? :D Anyway....

Good job with your fake blood, the results are quite impressive :D

Quite long and feedbacky comments coming from you - GOOD!

For the splatter I used a little spoon. The consistency of the two mixtures were quite different and I don't quite like how the first one splattered. It seems like syrup at times (lol! probably 'cos it's one of the main ingredients!)

As for the skin thing, you weren't supposed to believe anything. I was more like.. hmm trying to examine if it keeps bloody enough, how the contrast with the skin color goes, etc. I just got a spoon and dropped it over my hand without too much purpose. Experimental shit. The bloody fingers came from wiping the previous splatter :)

The dripping part, to me, accuses the fake blood. In one pic more than the other.

And guess what! I took the pics, left the blood on the sink, came here to post the poll, and when I returned... ants had taken over the blood glasses!! :D Now I got lids for those 'cos there's still a bunch of blood to be used. Hohooho.
